SPARQL now a formal W3C standard!
January 15, 2008
W3C announced today the publication of SPARQL, the key standard for opening up data on the Semantic Web. "Trying to use the Semantic Web without SPARQL is like trying to use a relational database without SQL," explained Tim Berners-Lee, W3C Director. "SPARQL makes it possible to query information from databases and other diverse sources in the wild, across the Web."
Note: Unfortunately the W3C press release references an overview of RDF stores with SPARQL support that contains outdated information on Sesame. The latest information on Sesame was not added to this overview. As this is very important for us, we want to correct this unfortunate mistake by making clear that Sesame 2.0 is already 99% SPARQL compliant and that the remaining incompatibilities will be corrected soon. For more info, go to www.openrdf.org, the home of Sesame.

Semantic Web technologies destined to open up SOA
March 2007
A large Service Oriented Archticture implementation may involve thousands of applications. Although the Semantic Web offers tools to automate the integration of this software, many SOA manufacturers opt to use proprietary formats and solutions instead.
